Hannah Lilburn, who was awarded Best Dressed at the Balmoral Show

A year ago she was dressed down and showing off the cows on the Cattle Lawn.

But yesterday Hannah Lilburn from Moira was named the Best Dressed at the Balmoral Show after she donned frock, handbag and heels for Ladies Day.

She was presented with her award at the GOSH Style Stage by Cool FM's Pete Snodden and It Magazine's Lisa Harrison.

Hannah was dressed to kill in a shimmering coat-dress, with bespoke hat, handbag and heels.

She's a familiar sight at Balmoral as a member of the Lilburn family, who are well-known in dairy circles.

Afterwards she told the Belfast Telegraph: “I normally show cows, but I decided this year I would take a break and show myself.

“I had my outfit for a wedding last year and I decided to get it out of the cupboard and wear it again.”

Paying tribute to Hannah's style sense, TV stylist Cathy Martin |described her outfit as very well co-ordinated.

“Last year Hannah was showing cows at the show and this year she's won best in show,” she said.

“She's got a mixture of designer and high street style.

“The shoes are from Faith, the dress is from the Snooty Fox and her hat is made by Top Hat, a milliner in Bangor, so it celebrates local design.

“Her outfit has got that little bit of glitz and glamour.”

Runner-up was architecture student Danielle Hammond from Ballynahinch, who wowed the crowds with a backless dress and dramatic home-made hat featuring a rainbow of gerberas.

Cathy said: “We think she looks gorgeous — she put a lot of effort into it. It's a nice mix of designers and high street.

“She's an architecture student and she created an almost architectural hat out of flowers.

“So she has also embraced the ethos behind the Balmoral Show which is a celebration of agriculture.

“These flowers are a vibrant visual representation of that.

“This season there are lots of pastels around and she has reflected that.

“There's also a lot of detail in smaller things like the shoes, bag and fingernails.

“The standard has been absolutely fantastic this year — there's been lots of effort.

“I'm loving the handmade and bespoke stuff and the mixture of high street and designer.

“It shows you don't have to spend a lot financially, you just have to put the thought into it.”
