On day three of the Balmoral show the Earl of Wessex, Prince Edward, met with exhibitors displaying the best in local produce and livestock.

Security was relaxed as the Prince unveiled a commemoration stone and went on a walk-about chatting to exhibitors.

As patron of the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society, Prince Edward is a regular visitor to Northern Ireland's largest farming event.

Highlights on day three include the Royal Ulster International Shearing Championship, the Dairy Young Handler Competition as well International show jumping in the main arena.

Among the many livestock displays set to delight visitors are the Parade of Pigs and the Heavy Horses which are followed closely by the Donkey Display.

The action wasn't confined to food and livestock either with the Balmoral Show jiving championship in full swing.

The festivities finish tomorrow with yet another packed schedule of agricultural events with ponies, goats, cattle and horses taking centre stage.
