A company in Co Down has said it can "revolutionise" the agri-tech sector by the use of plastic in agricultural vehicles and equipment.

Donite Plastics in Saintfield already operates in other sectors, including aerospace, construction and medical. Now the firm is working to replace metal and glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) with a lighter, more robust material, which it says can give their customers a competitive edge.

The firm has doubled its turnover over the last two years and grown from 10 to nearly 30 employees.

This week, Donite Plastics attended the National Ploughing Championship 2019 in Co Carlow, where it hoped to close deals.

Business development manager, Stephen Kissick, said: "These last two years have seen a dramatic change in our order book and as a result we've grown exponentially."
