Northern Ireland animal health company seals £40k Chile deal
A rehydration drink for sick pets developed by a Co Tyrone animal health firm is to be shipped out to Chile in a deal worth £40,000.
Macahl Animal Health in Moy is a sister business of Mackle Petfoods. Now its Oralade veterinary product will be used by vets and pet owners in Chile following a deal with Santiago-based Agrovet.
The deal was reached after the company took part in an Invest NI trade mission. Macahl already supplies the drink for dogs and cats to over 38 export markets.
Managing director Anthony Mackle said: "We had been researching markets there for some time and identified substantial opportunities, especially in Chile, a sophisticated marketplace with a high level of pet ownership and care and an extensive network of veterinary clinics." He said taking part in the Invest NI mission had been an effective way to gain knowledge of the market.
