Co Down distillery to become a tourism draw
Co Down distillery Echlinville has firmed up plans to develop a new visitors' centre at its base in Kircubbin.
Celebrating its fifth birthday this weekend, distillery owner Shane Braniff described Irish whiskey as "the world's fastest growing spirits category". He said Echlinville will respond to the popularity of whiskey tourism by converting its 17th century courtyard buildings into a visitors' centre.
The development will incorporate a museum, restaurant and tourist accommodation, in a bid to turn the distillery into one of the east coast's top visitor attractions.
