A popular Co Down gastro pub has received a £200,000 facelift.

The Poacher's Pocket in Lisbane, near Comber, has invested in a new "cosy front bar" and will now offer guests a "traditional country-chic pub experience" after its redevelopment.

The investment also provides an extended space for the traditional front pub.

The revamp was led by commercial interior architect Paul Haffey Design, a Lisburn-based firm that has worked on a number of pubs and restaurants across Ireland.

Ronan Sweeney, Balloo Inns' managing director and owner of The Poacher's Pocket, said: "The redevelopment enables more customers to enjoy a good night out, with space to continue their evening and to socialise."

The Poacher's Pocket opened in 2013 and since then has won a collection of awards, including recently being crowned the Best Gastro-Pub in County Down at the Irish Restaurant Awards for the fourth consecutive year. The venue was also awarded the 2018 title of Best Wine Experience.
