Bar and Block Steakhouse restaurant coming to Belfast
Hospitality giant Whitbread is preparing to open its first Bar and Block Steakhouse restaurant here.
The Premier Inn owner will open the new eatery at its hotel in Belfast's Cathedral Quarter on April 24. It's one of three new Bar and Block restaurants Whitbread is opening in the coming weeks, expanding the chain to 11.
It's understood Bar and Block will replace the Four Corners restaurant, which has occupied the site since the Waring Street hotel opened in 2008.
Whitbread has said 14 jobs are being created by the new steakhouse, on top of the staff bring brought across from the Premier Inn.
The 171-bed hotel and 200-seater restaurant and bar were the product of a £15m facelift of the former bank. The Four Corners building, which was commandeered for a military tribunal for the trial and sentencing of Henry Joy McCracken in 1798, was one of the last to be put up for development by the Laganside Corporation. It's understood Whitbread has not ruled out extending Bar and Block to other local hotels. It has a total of seven Premier Inn hotels here.
