Hospitality group Beannchor has announced a £500,000 investment and 10 new jobs at Cathedral Quarter pub The Cloth Ear.
The venue, part of The Merchant Hotel, will be transformed into a reimagined traditional Irish Victorian pub, Beannchor said.
It will also attempt to reintroduce the art of conversation by barring live music and TVs. Patrons will be encouraged to put their phones away, with topics of discussion stimulated by 'conversation starter' beer mats.
Director Conall Wolsey said there was a need for a space where customers connect with each other.
