An ex-pat and his partner have returned from Australia to officially launch their £12m hotel complex in south Armagh where they have created 100 jobs.

Mick and Robin Boyle cut the ribbon at the four-star luxury Killeavy Castle Estate which they bought back in 2013.

They then embarked on a full restoration and building programme which has given way to a new 45-bed hotel and spa as well as a restaurant, bar, walled garden and cafe, and an event space for up to 220 people. The castle provides the backdrop to private events and features a dining room, library, cellar and four bedrooms.

"South Armagh has always been a special place for Robin and I and we are so happy to be able to return to open this hotel that will showcase its beauty to the world," said Michael Boyle.

"Environmental improvements" are next to take place at the site.
