Former Belfast bank branch to become restaurant

By Emma Deighan

A former First Trust branch in east Belfast could become the latest bank to be turned into a restaurant, it has emerged.

Deramore Developments hopes to reconfigure the former bank on Upper Newtownards Road, Ballyhackamore.

The ground floor will be transformed into an open-plan restaurant. The first floor and an extension to create a second floor would provide three apartments.

Mark Thallon, partner at TDK commercial property consultants, which is behind the leasing of venues such as Pizza Express and Camille in the area, will also lease out the unit and apartments. He said: "Ballyhackamore is a good location. It has become a destination for the food and beverage industry here."

Last month pizza chain Little Wing announced plans for a venue in an old Bank of Ireland in Newtownards.
