Hastings invests £1.1m in Slieve Donard hotel
Hastings Hotels has started a £1.1m renovation of the Slieve Donard Resort and Spa in Co Down.
The kitchen and drawing room of the Newcastle hotel have already been redeveloped, with the final stage due to be completed in September when 16 bedrooms will be upgraded.
Michael Weston, the hotel's general manager, said: "The £1.1m renovation programme has included a brand new kitchen, which will allow our chefs to build on our dedication to local provenance and develop our offering in line with the growing market for food tourism."
"As part of the kitchen investment, we have also modernised our team member areas to ensure a harmonious working environment and a nice space for them to relax during their breaks," said Mr Weston.
"Also included in the investment programme are 16 of our luxurious bedrooms, the Lighthouse Lounge and the drawing room as we strive to ensure our guests receive a first-class service every time.
"It's been a busy 12 months with a 10% growth in our overall business across the resort and we are currently enjoying a very busy summer period with excellent forecasted bookings for the remainder of the year."
