Marks and Spencer opening new foodhall at Belfast International Airport filling station forecourt

By John Mulgrew

A new Marks and Spencer foodhall is set to open at a filling station forecourt close to Belfast International Airport.

Belfast International Airport is set to become the home of a new store, opening on October 19, and creating 23 jobs.

It comes after the Belfast Telegraph revealed yesterday that M&S would open the store as part of the new development.

Michael Gillen of M&S, said: "The new store launch has been widely anticipated in the local community in Antrim, and we’re looking forward to bringing the best of M&S food and drink to Belfast International Airport and the surrounding area.

"We will be working hard over the next few months to make sure we offer fantastic service, putting our customers at the heart of everything we do and making this store a part of the local community in Antrim. We can’t wait to welcome our first customers through our doors on October 19."

And plans revealed for an 81-bedroom Premier Inn hotel at the airport are now going out for public consultation.

The proposal, now in its pre-application consultation phase, has been set out to meet the growing demand for additional beds at Belfast International Airport.

Around 30 jobs are expected to be created in the construction phase with a further 30 added once the hotel is operational.
