Nando's to open seventh Northern Ireland eatery at The Junction
Chicken restaurant Nando's will open at The Junction in Antrim next year.
The Johannesburg-based chain, which already has six restaurants here, will occupy a 3,500 sq ft unit in the retail park.
It is the second big food chain name to sign up at The Junction since it announced its £30m redevelopment earlier in the year.
A dual lane drive-thru McDonald's restaurant seating 110 will open at The Junction later this month, making it the chain's first Antrim outlet.
And now Nando's, which operates in more than 30 countries, will bring its famous peri-peri flame-grilled chicken to the town. It will join the growing portfolio of new brands at the The Junction, which also recently welcomed Beauty Outlet and Intersport.
It will be the 10th restaurant at The Junction, which was bought by Lotus Property in 2016.
Nando's already operates four restaurants in Belfast, one in Londonderry's Richmond Centre and another in Craigavon's Rushmere Shopping Centre.
Alastair Coulson, Lotus Property managing director, said: "We are delighted to welcome Nando's to The Junction. This addition of such a strong brand is a testament to the confidence surrounding The Junction's future.
"Not only will The Junction be known for its selection of retailers but also for its extensive range of leisure offerings and wide variety of places to eat and drink."
The arrival of Nando's is part of a £30m redevelopment, which began in April 2018, which Lotus Property said would help make The Junction Northern Ireland's largest shopping and leisure destination. It currently houses over 30 stores, restaurants and a 10 screen Omniplex cinema.
On completion in 2020, the scheme will be redesigned with four distinct quarters - food and film, home retail, supermarket and shopping and leisure.
These will include new retail units, two new drive-thrus, new cafés and restaurants, a new road infrastructure and a full landscaping plan.
