Northern Ireland food firms scoop awards
Three Northern Ireland food producers were named among the best on the island in the Irish Food Awards announced in Dublin yesterday.
Young Buck cheese, made in Co Down by Mike Thomson, Co Antrim's Broughgammon Farm and Peter Hannan, of Hannan Meats in Moira, were all winners in the awards run by the Irish Food Writers' Guild (IFWG).
The awards are independently judged and are open to producers north and south of the border.
"Each year, the IFWG singles out a number of products and organisations that evoke pride in our food and contribute to our rich and diverse food culture," said Kristin Jenson, chairperson of the guild.
