Strangford Lough restaurant completes £130k revamp

A Greyabbey restaurant and boutique garden nursery has completed a £130,000 extension.

The project, which was supported by Ulster Bank, saw the Strangford Lough business add on a 55-seater dining room and function space, the Scrabo Room. The investment also created several jobs, including a full-time chef and front of house staff.

Harrisons of Greyabbey is owned and operated by Helen and David Harrison.

Helen said: "We have witnessed strong growth year-on-year and were operating at full capacity, so expansion was necessary to open up new avenues to grow the business... it was equally important that we built upon our existing unique selling propositions and commitment to the area to accommodate demand.

"A surge in popularity for afternoon teas and the need for quality and affordable function space was evident.

"Being situated on a family farm meant we had the room to expand our premises."

The project was partially funded by a £64,000 rural development programme grant.

Gemma Jordan of Ulster Bank said: "We're proud to have provided finance for the development.

"Helen and David share a comprehensive understanding of the local market and their commitment to reinvestment has nurtured a thriving business."
