A restaurant in Belfast's Titanic Quarter specialising in baked potatoes has won a liquor licence.

Spud Murphy's is owned by Gareth Murphy, the head of adventure centre business We Are Vertigo.

Mr Murphy said he hoped to fuel the Titanic Quarter's night-time economy by offering a casual dining opinion for residents and visitors to the area.

He said his businesses had invested £3m in the area, including at the We Are Vertigo facility, where a 25,000 sq ft inflatable action course will open next month.

Mr Murphy said: "The corporate hospitality market is crying out for novel and unique ways to entertain their staff, especially in the run-up to Christmas.

"We felt adding Spud Murphy's to our portfolio was an excellent way of diversifying our offering.

"We're also perfectly located to serve the scores of tourists that pass our venue every day."
