33 staff to lose jobs after closure of Northern Ireland Poundworld stores
Thirty-three Northern Ireland jobs are set to be axed with the announcement by Poundworld of store closures in Belfast and Newtownards.
The budget retailer has announced the closure of 40 stores across the United Kingdom with 531 employees set to lose their jobs
It comes after the company announced the closure of 105 stores earlier this month.
18 members of staff at the Newtownards Castlebawn Retail Park store and 15 staff at the Donegall Place Belfast store will be laid off.
The stores are set to close their doors for the final time on Tuesday July 24 unless a buyer can be found for the business.
Discussions are understood to be continuing between the administrators Deloitte and interested parties for the potential sale of part, or parts, of the remaining business.
"We would like to thank all the employees for their continued support and commitment during this difficult time," Clare Boardman joint administrator said.
