Hillsborough Castle, the official residence of the Queen in Northern Ireland as well as Secretaries of State, is planning to shed 33 jobs in the coming months.

A consultation period underway over proposed redundancies finishes at the end of October and staff have been informed.

At present the 18th century castle, where the contentious 1985 Anglo-Irish Agreement was signed and which has hosted many royal and state visits down the years, employs 91 people across 78 full-time posts.
