Belfast price comparison website pioneer, Seopa Ltd, is to create 31 new jobs as part of its new growth plans.

The company, which operates price comparison websites in the UK for insurance, utilities and financial products, says it wants to build its market share.

Seopa also provides the technology behind price comparison websites in Northern Ireland like CompareNI.com, which was set up in 2009, and Quotezone.co.uk, established in 2005.

Economic development agency Invest NI will support the move by giving Seopa nearly £390,000 towards the new roles, which will offer average salaries of over £35,000.

Greg Wilson, chief executive of Seopa, said: "We have grown Quotezone.co.uk to become one of the UK's leading insurance comparison platforms, while CompareNI.com has grown to become the leading price comparison site in Northern Ireland.

"More than three million people now use our sites to compare quotes each year, and we have partnered with hundreds of panel members, affiliates and co-brand partners as we've scaled up our business.

"We now want to build on this success and grow our market share. We plan to do this by investing significantly in our team with training and development, creating 31 new roles.

"We are also enhancing our systems and products to ensure they remain cutting edge as we enter new markets."

The new hires will include a head of production, a chief financial officer and a head of data science.

Other new positions include e-business development, IT, sales and marketing.

And a new training programme has also been developed to ensure staff have skills to deliver growth. Mr Wilson said support from Invest NI will speed up the process.

Grainne McVeigh, director of scaling at Invest NI, said: "Seopa has an impressive growth history, and this planned investment across product development, marketing and skills will ensure it is well placed to meet its ambitious scaling plans.

"This local company is part of our scaling initiative which focuses on helping companies be more competitive and achieve sustainable growth."

Seopa Ltd is headquartered in Belfast's Linen Quarter.
