The building firm behind a new £35m leisure centre in Craigavon has been praised for investing in 20 apprentices to help young people progress in the sector.

Construction and engineering firm Farrans, who revealed the site is on track for completion next year, said the move to employ 20 apprentices will help build a 'talent pipeline'.

Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Councillor Mealla Campbell, said: "Skills development is a key priority in helping to drive, support and grow a successful local economy and we're delighted that working with Farrans has created so many opportunities.

"Our apprentices are ambassadors for our council."
