Nearly 100 new apartments and houses planned in Comber and Dundonald to meet big demand
House builders are planning nearly 100 new homes in Comber and Dundonald in multi-million pound projects as the popularity of the areas continues to grow.
The Belfast Telegraph can reveal that Banbridge-based firm Lotus Homes is to launch an application for 70 new homes at a new development in Comber which will be called The Founders.
And Ballyclare-based family firm Hagan Homes today announced that it will build 28 apartments and create 50 jobs in a £3.5m development nearby.
The firm, which is one of Northern Ireland's biggest housebuilders, is starting work on 28 two-bed apartments at Loughan Hall on Comber Road in Dundonald.
The flats will be finished next year, and will be priced from around £125,000.
Hagan Homes managing director Jamesy Hagan said: "The demand for superior homes in Northern Ireland, which offer value for money, is high.
"Loughan Hall offers residents the opportunity to live in modern, new build two bedroom apartments in one of the most desirable residential areas of east Belfast."

Eden Contractors, led by Arthur King, is to carry out the work on Loughan Hall, while Rodgers & Finney has been appointed estate agents to sell the homes.
Hagan Homes was set up nearly 30 years ago by James Hagan and his brother-in-law Nigel Simpson. It's now run by James' son, Jamesy.
Over the last 29 years, it has built almost 3,300 homes across Northern Ireland including developments such as Henryville in Ballyclare and Old Church Square in Dundonald.
And The Founders in Comber is the latest housebuilding project from Lotus Homes. A community consultation event will be held in Comber next week.
Estate agent Simon Brien said: "It's a mix of three and four-bed family homes in a very traditional architecture style.
"The land has been zoned for housing in previous area plans."
He said he expected the planning application would go in in around one month's time.
And he said The Founders was likely to be a popular development. "We have been quite active in that area and we expect demand to be exceptionally strong."
According to a public notice ahead of next week's pre-application community consultation event, The Founders would be located at Ballygowan Road "and 100 metres north west of 7 to 21 The Mill Stream, Comber".
Mr Brien said the latest phase of Rivenwood development in Newtownards had been launched, with the newest phase selling out in the course of a morning.
The Rivenwood development of nearly 1,000 homes was announced by Fraser Houses (NI) Ltd two years ago.
News of Hagan Homes and Lotus Homes' plans comes after the Northern Ireland construction bulletin recorded a seven-year high in output at the end of last year with growth of 3.6%.
Housing output was 10.8% above what it had been in the fourth quarter of 2016, and while Nisra said output had been growing, it was still well below historical levels.
The construction sector was the area hardest hit during the economic downturn. While output has been growing, it is still below the peak of 2007 before the credit crunch and banking crisis.
