More than 20,000 people in job-hungry Spain have applied for 400 posts at an IKEA store, crashing the company's computer servers and illustrating the desperation the country's six million unemployed face.

The online applications were for jobs in a store to be opened next year outside Valencia. The Spanish government admits it will take years to bring down the 26% unemployment rate.
