3hree Kings coffee company opens second branch in Coleraine

By Rachel Martin

Coffee company 3hree Kings is taking on 13 employees as the north coast firm opens its second branch, in Coleraine, this week. The £200,000 investment will take the total number employed by the business to 30.

3hree Kings is owned by David Ferguson and Colin McClean, the duo behind Bob and Berts.

It opened its first branch in Portstewart in August and plans are under way to open a third 3hree Kings branch on Belfast's Lisburn Road by March.

Mr Ferguson said the two businesses had separate identities. "3hree Kings is going to be smaller - it's all about speciality produce and coffee" he added. "We look very differently at how we run the two. It allows us to experiment with recipes, and it's easier for us to try new things across two stores.

"We'll try out things like pulled duck and beef brisket and things which are on trend in London and further afield."
