£3m Lisburn mansion sparks interest from overseas buyers

Expansive luxury Co Down home 'unique', says agent

It's a 10-bedroom modern palatial mansion complete with swimming pool, sauna, cocktail bar and an area to show off your supercars.

And if you are interested in the grand Legacurry Mill, you're not going to get any change out of £3 million.

Legacurry is a grand and lavish home for sale outside Lisburn, and comprises three separate properties - plus a large detached garage with "large sliding glazed doors ideal for supercars".

Spread across the dwellings, there are 10 bedrooms, six bathrooms, seven reception rooms, cocktail bar, a gym, snooker and pool room and a sauna - taking in almost 16,000sq ft.

That is more than 15 times the size of a three-bedroom semi-detached house also on the market elsewhere in the Legacurry area.

Legacurry Mill dates back to 1740.

Over the last few years the current owner - understood to be a businessman in the meat industry - built a huge 16,000sq ft development.

And despite it being on offer for the princely sum of £3m, it is thought the property could have cost more to build.

David Menary, director of residential at Colliers, which is selling the property, said there has already been strong interest from potential international buyers.

"It really is everything you could want," he said.

"We have had several calls already from international buyers who are interested in acquiring a property between Belfast and Dublin. We have had strong interest to date, and had two viewings.

"People are finding it very rare that there is a property so unique, and newly built."

He said the company was able to draw on its global network in order to attract potential buyers.

"The first person who looked at it is Irish, and there is some significant interest already. "If anyone looks at it from an international perspective, it would look like a very cheap property for them - that property elsewhere could be double.

"When you look at the floor area, the specification - the kitchen alone, you could buy a medium-sized house in Lisburn, plus you have the spa, and the gym."

According to those selling it, "there are three main homes within the overall property, the main dwelling (called Legaccury Mill) is accessed from the front courtyard and consists of spacious and bright formal and informal entertaining areas, private living quarters and open dining rooms that lead to al fresco patio areas overlooking the gardens to the river, open countryside and mature woodlands".

Legacurry House, which also sits within the grounds, includes bedrooms with two en suites and two large reception areas overlooking the picturesque Ravarnet River.

And there is a further building, called Legacurry Cottage, which has a large air conditioned living room, full kitchen and utility, one bedroom with a walk-in dressing room and a luxury shower room.

According to the glossy sales brochure, Legacurry Mill "offers the extremely rare opportunity to acquire a house designed to the highest bespoke architectural standards".

"Properties of this type seldom come to market, let alone when situated in a most idyllic location," it adds.
