£72k boost for start-up bid to help investors

By Staff Reporter

A markets data company in Belfast - set up by a construction graduate - has developed new technology for trading in global financial markets.

Markets Made has received £72,000 from Invest NI's Propel programme for start-ups, as well as research and development assistance and help with marketing.

Its new technology gives rapid access to market data so that investors, especially home-based traders, can decide about future market direction for currencies and commodities - everything from coffee and sugar to oil and gas has a market.

Chief executive Raymond Gilmour worked as a trader in London for 15 years after graduating in construction management.

"I identified a market opportunity for a web-based portal that enabled small investors in particular to get to grips with the complexities of the markets and make better-informed trading decisions."

He said the information was present in a user-friendly way to help traders plot trends.
