Irish agri-business firm Origin Enterprises plc has acquired Kazgod Group in Poland for €22.4m (£20m).
Analysts said the purchase was an "excellent fit" for Origin, and would give it a firm foothold in the east of Poland.
Kazgod focuses on crop protection, seeds, fertiliser and grain trading and is a major acquisition for the agronomy division of Origin.
Origin is a partner of Barnetts in Belfast, which employs around 460 people in their import and export business, made up of W&R Barnett and BHH.
The firms work together in the animal feed production and grain trading businesses in Ireland, run and managed by W&R Barnett.
Origin chief executive Tom O'Mahony said: "Kazgod furthers Origin's strategic development objectives and positions the group as the premier service provider to primary arable producers in Poland."
