Aiming to be toast of Germany

By Staff Reporter

Following the 'Access 6' export programme launch in Berlin earlier this year, German retail consultants, Green Seed, flew to Northern Ireland this month to meet with four local food and drink businesses hoping to export to the German retail market.

One of the four businesses is Ards based Echlinville Distillery which believes its premium whiskey is well positioned to appeal to the German consumer.

Over the next 18 months, Green Seed's team of experts will work in close partnership with Echlinville and the three other NI based companies to prepare them for the launch of their brands on a German market worth €236bn (£197bn). There are places available to food and drink firms based in the border regions on subsidised 'Study Tours' to England, Germany, France, Benelux and Scandinavia.
