Appy ending awaits for award entrants

More than 70 of Northern Ireland's most promising app ideas were put through their paces recently at the judging of the Belfast Telegraph's App for Life competition.

Innovative entrants were vying for a prize worth more than £20,000 and the chance to have digital agency, Origin Partners, develop their idea into a real-life application that can be sold across the world.

A panel of expert judges drawn from industry and academia measured the uniqueness and commercial promise of each submission. The five top entrants will now be invited to meet with the judges to discuss the final detail of their concept.

The App for Life competition called for ideas that can improve any aspect of modern living and the concepts spanned diverse areas including health, fitness, education, business and childcare. Jerry Staple Operations Director at Origin Partners, who led the judging, said: "This competition shows that innovation and entrepreneurship is thriving in Northern Ireland. We were greatly impressed by both the creativity and the practical nature of the entries."

The Belfast Telegraph will unveil the overall winner of the competition and two runners-up later this month.
