Audio hire firm Loft Sound to create new jobs as loan hits the right note

By David Elliott

New jobs are expected to be created by an audio hire company after an injection of cash from Invest NI's Growth Loan Fund.

Loft Sound, which hires audio equipment and crew for use at concerts and corporate events, will use the money to invest in new high-tech equipment.

That will allow the company to grow further, underpin existing posts ones and also create new ones, according to Connor Dinsmore, joint founder of the firm.

"With this new investment we are now the only event audio company in Ireland to be able to offer L-Accoustics K standard Line Array systems which are specifically designed to meet the requirements of international touring artists," he said.

"We have two fundamental principles – excellent people and excellent equipment – and by ensuring quality in both Loft Sound has achieved success," he added.

Loft Sound claims to be the fastest growing event audio company in the UK with 40% turnover growth annually since starting out in 2007. During that time headcount has grown to 14 from just two.

The Antrim firm has worked with acts such as Ronan Keating, McFly, Madness and Rita Ora at concerts across the UK.

The funding comes from the £50m Growth Loan Fund and is backed by Invest NI and the Northern Ireland Local Government Officers' Superannuation Committee (NILGOSC).

It's aimed at lending to SMEs across Northern Ireland and is managed by Whiterock Partners.

Mark Canning, senior investment manager at WhiteRock Capital Partners LLP, said: "Loft Sound is a fantastic example of a company thriving in a difficult environment."
