Aviva hit by fine over breaches of guidelines

The Irish Central Bank has fined the life and pensions arm of Aviva €245,000 (£205,000) and reprimanded the company for breaches of consumer protection guidelines between July 2007 and January of last year.

"The Central Bank detected the breaches in January 2011 during a thematic review of the complaints handling procedures in place in undertakings providing products/services to Irish consumers," a statement said.
