A Belfast-based chocolatier has landed a coveted silver medal in the prestigious International Chocolate Awards World Finals 2014.
Co Couture, based in the city centre, entered its Japanese Cherry Sencha 70% in the competition - which attracted over 950 different products from chocolate makers from around the world. It teamed up with fellow boutique Belfast firm Suki Tea to produce the new award-winning product.
Deirdre McCanny, owner of Co Couture, said the chocolate bar has added to Co Couture's world ranking status.
"The judging panel is made up of experts, food journalists, bloggers, chefs, sommeliers and pastry chefs and attracts fine chocolate makers from across the globe," she said. "The awards are designed to reflect international tastes and celebrate and recognise traditional craft companies such as Co Couture."
She said the award was "an amazing honour", adding: "The combination of this fine chocolate and Belfast company Suki Tea's Japanese Cherry Sencha blend has given this bar the filling needed to secure silver in this highly competitive category."
