By Margaret Canning

A shipping supplies company in east Belfast is closing down after 90 years.

The directors of J McCready & Co appointed a liquidator after deciding to close its doors.

In a newspaper notice placed by director Hugh Elliott, the family company said it had "reached the natural conclusion of its business life".

The notice added: "We, the directors, would like to thank all of our loyal and dedicated customers, suppliers and employers for their assistance and support over the past decades and would wish each and every one of them continued success."

It added that creditors of the firm would be paid in full.

Seamas Keating of accountancy firm PKF FPM has been appointed liquidator to the business.

A notice placed by Mr Keating states that he was appointed liquidator to close down the company after a general meeting on Wednesday.

Hugh Elliott is a director of the company, along with Marion Ruth Elliott and James Stuart Elliott.

The directors could not be reached for comment yesterday.
