Berkeley optimistic about profit targets

UK housebuilder Berkeley has said it expects to meet its target of doubling profits with two years to spare.

The London and South-east focused group said good trading and a number of planning consents coming through meant its objective would now take three years, instead of five. The group started the plan to boost profits in May 2010 and has stormed ahead, helped by foreign buying and a buoyant buy-to-let sector.
