'big freeze' fails to derail profits at stagecoach

Stagecoach has said the severe weather which crippled parts of the UK transport network in December had failed to derail its performance.

While revenues were adversely affected by the frozen conditions, Stagecoach said profitability in the first 40 weeks of the financial year remained good.

At its UK bus division, which operates in cities including Liverpool, Newcastle, Hull and Manchester, like-for-like revenues rose 1.9% in the period to February 6, compared with 2.3% growth reported in December.
