Boiler firm eyes European market after securing £500k overseas deal

A Cookstown company has won half a million pounds worth of orders in Great Britain for its wood pellet boilers.

Turkington Engineering, which trades as Turco Boilers, recently diversified from its main business of manufacturing biomass boilers and has so far sold its pellet boilers to both homes and businesses in England, Scotland and Wales.

It's the first company in Northern Ireland to manufacture biomass boilers and does so under license to its market distributors.

Invest NI offered £50,000, part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), to market the boilers.

"Invest NI's support has enabled us to capitalise on market demand for an efficient biomass heating system," Ryan Turkington, MD of Turco, said.

"This project has helped us to set a solid foundation on which we can build further product development.

"As our customer base in GB increases, we will extend our focus towards potential growth opportunities in Europe."
