The British Chambers of Commerce has appointed Adam Marshall as its new director general.
Mr Marshall, who has worked at the business group for seven years, has been acting director general since the resignation of John Longworth in March.
BCC president Francis Martin said: "Adam is the outstanding choice to lead the BCC, at a time when the views of business have never been more important.
"Adam has a detailed knowledge of the chamber network and a strong understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing chamber members across the country.
Mr Marshall said: "At this time of national transition and change, BCC will ensure that the diverse voices of business are heard - regardless of size, sector, region or nation."
