Brits 'hit plastic' to afford gifts

An estimated 59% of Britons "are buying Christmas with their credit card" this year, according to a survey.

Consumers are expecting to put an average £448 on the plastic for festive-related purchases, with 10% expecting to up that figure to £1,000, the poll found. Around 13% would take on further debt to avoid not giving presents.
