BT appoints operations chief

Telecoms giant BT has appointed Graham Sutherland as chief executive of operations in Northern Ireland and the Republic.

Mr Sutherland, who has been chief financial officer of BT Ireland since 2006, will succeed Chris Clark, who has been appointed managing director of BT Enterprises (in England).

Commenting on the appointment Gavin Patterson, chief executive of BT Retail, said: "Chris, Graham and the management team are delivering excellent results at our all-island operation through the successful execution of our managed services strategy and a relentless focus on cost management. Chris has made a tremendous contribution as CEO of BT on the island. Under his stewardship the company has secured a number of landmark managed services contracts.

"This is an exciting time for BT, and I have every confidence Graham and his team will continue to add value to our customers, our employees and our shareholders."
