A CO Tyrone building firm has opened new headquarters and showroom facilities.

The new £2m, 6,000 sqm premises of Western Building Systems on Washing Bay Road in Coalisland were unveiled on Thursday.

A spokesman for the company said it had received the support of Invest NI through the European Regional Development Fund to help its export potential through product development and marketing.

Margaret Cunningham, Invest NI client manager for the construction sector, said: "The new headquarters marks a significant milestone in the development of the company.

"It is a testament to the strong leadership and the highly skilled team that has been built here in Coalisland.

"Over the years Western Building Systems has grown to be a leader in modular construction and the focus on product development and continuous improvement has kept it at the forefront of its sector."

Stephen Comer, senior manager with First Trust, which has supported the company, said: "The company may have gone from strength to strength and expanded over the years but they have always had their roots firmly planted here locally and their relationship with the local bank is just one example of this."

Sinn Fein mayor of Dungannon Michelle O'Neill said the company had made a major contribution to the area.

"These premises not only showcase the company products but also highlight remarkable business acumen.

"I congratulate Western Building Systems on sustaining its economic contribution to Coalisland through employment and attracting investment especially in the current economic climate," she added.

The company specialises in rapid builds and was founded 25 years ago.
