British Airway's Belfast City Airport investment shows service dedication

British Airways continues to invest in improving the travelling experience for Northern Ireland customers. At British Airways we are delighted to offer Northern Ireland customers up to six flights a day from Belfast City Airport into London Heathrow as well as excellent connectivity from Heathrow to our extensive global network.

The route is an important air link for local business customers and essential for the continued development of business, commerce and tourism.

British Airways understands the travel requirements of our business passengers and with over 90 years of expertise in serving customers and catering for their needs, we acknowledge the importance of providing the most premium experience for both our long haul and short haul passengers.

British Airways flights have now moved to the airline's flagship Heathrow home, Terminal 5. The previous schedule had been operating into Terminal 1 since the route started in June 2012 and the move has certainly helped us to maintain our positioning of providing customers with an unrivalled offering both on the ground as well as in the air.

Northern Ireland customers can now connect to over 130 important long haul and European destinations without having to transfer between terminals, allowing for smoother connections as a result.

The move is likely to cut minimum connection times for local customers travelling to onward British Airways flights from Terminal 5 by 30 minutes, to just one hour - significantly reducing journey times. Also, our customers alighting in London can easily access the city via rail using the frequent and fast Heathrow Express service into Paddington Station as well as road links.

Terminal 5 has been voted Terminal of the Year for the last three years in the World Airport awards, an accolade which we are very proud of. Our short haul as well as our long haul passengers can now enjoy the vast array of facilities and services on offer at T5 to enhance their experience through the airport.

Customers have the chance to indulge in the largest retail offering of any UK airport with 112 stores including luxury brands such as Cartier, Gucci, Prada and Burberry.

There are also an array of world class restaurants to choose from including Gordon Ramsay and Caviar House & Prunier.

British Airways has also invested £60m in creating a choice of six lounges known as 'Galleries' for eligible customers to relax in, capable of hosting up to 2,500 people. This is a 25% increase in capacity in comparison to the current Terminal 1 lounge.

These 'Galleries' epitomise elegance and luxury with a decadent look and feel created through crystal chandeliers, art installations, mood lighting to reflect the time of day as well as providing complimentary refreshments.

In addition, British Airways has also reinforced its commitment to the local marketplace with our £300,000 business lounge, which we unveiled at Belfast City Airport last year.

The investment in the British Airways lounge continues to reaffirm our commitment to the Belfast operation within the global network.

The lounge is available to all passengers with fully flexible tickets as well as British Airways Executive Gold and Silver members and oneworld flyers with Emerald and Sapphire status. Passengers can experience panoramic views of the airfield and easy boarding onto the aircraft as the lounge is directly adjacent to Door A.

Features of our British Airways lounge include, 87 comfortable seats, a dedicated work zone, complimentary Wi-Fi, new 'air' print technology enabling customers to print from their mobile devices as well as televisions and a choice of newspapers and magazines.

We also offer passengers a full complimentary bar and an extensive choice of food, with a menu that changes throughout the day.

British Airways wants to continue to lead the way in customer service excellence and our lounge offering as well as the recent move of Belfast flights to Terminal 5, plays an important role in delivering this service to our Northern Ireland customers.
