Business in brief: City Link parcels can be collected

Delivery company City Link has told its customers to collect their undelivered Christmas parcels, with 30,000 parcels still awaiting collection. The collapsed firm, which announced 2,400 redundancies, 18 of which were in Northern Ireland, warned customers depots will only remain open until next Monday.

Latest salvo fired in mortgage war

Amortgage  price war has intensified as a bank pledges to match the rates on offer from its high street rivals. HSBC said that for new and existing customers with deposits or equity between 10% and 30%, it will match the on-sale mortgage rates being offered by other major providers with a booking fee of up to £1,499.

Higher bills to hit workers profits

The cost of working in the UK is set to rise in 2015, with people spending more on transport and clothes while being hit by bigger household bills, a new report has predicted. Personal finance firm MoneyDashboard said workers will spend more on clothes in 2015 following a trend of “dressing up to impress”.
