Cartoon character Peppa Pig clothing specialist's £59m turnover

The Northern Ireland textiles company which brings the image of Peppa Pig to bedclothes around the UK has reported £59m in turnover for the last year.

Cooneen by Design, which specialises in clothing and bedclothes featuring cartoon characters, employs 149 people in Fivemiletown, Co Tyrone.

The company, which celebrates 50 years in business next year, is part-owned by Northern Ireland industrialist John B McGuckian.

Profits for the year to November 28, 2014 at the company were £5.6m, down from £6.5m a year before, while turnover was down from £63.2m.

The company's accounts, which were filed this month at Companies House, reveal its six directors were paid a total of £705,279 in salaries and pension costs.

There are a number of linked Cooneen companies specialising in different types of clothing, including work wear firm Cooneen at Work and military and police clothing business Cooneen Defence. It has also invested in a joint venture C&M Licensing for the procurement of license contracts.
