Cheese firm wins supply deal

A CO Tyrone cheese manufacturer has won a new contract worth a "significant sum" to supply a major Irish supermarket chain.

Fivemiletown Creamery has secured two deals with Musgrave, who operate the SuperValu, Centra and C Store chains across the Republic of Ireland.

The manufacturer will supply four own-label lines to Musgrave for a network of 190 SuperValu retail outlets throughout the Republic.

Fivemiletown cheese being marketed under the SuperValu brand will be a creamy handmade Irish brie, naturally oak smoked cheddar, goat's cheese and goat's cheese with mustard.

SuperValu will also carry five Fivemiletown branded lines for the Christmas period.

Kevin McManus, Fivemiletown Creamery's sales manager believes the deals will boost its market position.
