Chemical company hit with fine for discharge

A Co Armagh business has been fined over £2,000 for polluting a waterway and breaking a prevention notice.

In July 2009 Desmond Savage, owner of Central Chemical Supplies in Donaghcloney, was served with a prevention notice after earlier problems were discovered at his site. But over a year later, a team of inspectors from the Department of Environment discovered there was a discharge which could harm fish life coming from a chamber in an effluent holding tank.
