Commuting times for women increases

The increase in part-time jobs has led to longer commuting times for women workers but a slight fall among men, according to a new study.

Research by the TUC found that the average employee now spends almost 53 minutes a day travelling to and from work.

Average travel to and from work times for men have fallen slightly to 58 minutes compared with 2006, but have increased by half a minute for women to more than 47 minutes.
