Cracker of a Christmas for M&S supplier firms
Northern Ireland firms will be helping to lay on a bumper Christmas dinner for Marks and Spencer customers this festive season.
O'Kane Poultry, Linden Foods, Finnebrogue, Wilson's Country, Vion Cookstown and Avondale Foods have been working to produce a selection of seasonal products which were tested by customers at a special dinner at the M&S restaurant at Sprucefield this week.
Downpatrick-based Finne-brogue have come up with a selection of new Christmas products.
Two of those - pork, cranberry and orange stuffing balls, along with a new range of pork and apple cocktail sausages - feature in this year's M-amp;S Christmas TV advert.
Also on the Finnebrogue menu this Christmas are two venison joints.
Finnebrough chief executive Denis Lynn said last year had been a "remarkable" time for the company after it scooped a number of high- profile awards.
"Commended for our work with M&S and for improved quality and innovation, we look forward to hearing how they are received by M-amp;S customers," he said.
Marks -amp; Spencer also serves up over 1m fresh Christmas turkeys - 90% of the product sold throughout the UK and Ireland - each year thanks to a long established partnership with O'Kane Poultry based in Co Tyrone.
Stewart Nisbet, head of foods for M-amp;S in Ireland, said: "We at M-amp;S know how important buying regional is to our customers and we are really proud that we can offer them all the ingredients for a traditional Christmas dinner, most of which are supplied in Northern Ireland," he said.
