Eddie Rocket's taking on Ed's Easy Diner in Belfast and its 10 staff

By John Mulgrew

Eddie Rocket's is planning to employ around 10 staff who were left jobless after the closure of another US-style diner in south Belfast. The Irish-owned company is taking over the former Ed's Easy Diner at Boucher Square after that business went bust.

As well as employing the staff who lost their jobs, Eddie Rocket's, which has restaurants on the Lisburn Road in the city and in Newry, will be hiring a further 10 workers.

It's aiming to open on January 28 after revamping the interior of the restaurant, according to its new manager.

TDK Property has secured the letting of the 3,000sq ft Boucher Square restaurant to the Irish chain.

Mark Thallon of TDK said: "We are delighted to have secured Eddie Rocket's at Boucher Square and believe that their well-established offer will be hugely popular.

"Demand for space in the scheme has been exceptional and it has proved that demand for food and beverage uses on the Boucher Road is very strong."

Boucher Square is home to a number of cafes and restaurants, including Nando's and Frankie & Benny's.

Meanwhile, Prezzo is due to open at Boucher Square next month. It will be the Italian eatery's second Belfast restaurant.
