Expansion is a dream ticket for bed firm

A Co Down bedding firm is hoping for sweet dreams of Scotland and the Republic of Ireland after investing over £200,000 in export development.

Dream World Bedding, in Warrenpoint, said it had identified growth potential in property management and hotels in the markets.

The company makes mattresses and bed bases supplied to independent retailers, chains, hotels and to the property management sector.

A contribution from Invest NI of £27,000 has enabled it to employ two new sales and marketing managers to help secure new customers and implement a new sales and marketing strategy.

It also hopes to take on three more production staff and an administrator.

Mark Bleakney, manager of the agency's southern regional office, said: "Dream World Bedding is an established and proactive company, focused on building its competitiveness.

"This strategic investment will help the company position itself for growth in markets outside Northern Ireland. In addition, the creation of six new skilled jobs in Warrenpoint is good news for the local community and manufacturing industry."

Company director John McKnight said Invest NI's support will help it develop marketing skills and management expertise, allowing the company to grow and employ more people.

He said taking part in a recent event in Dublin also helped boost the company's profile. "With a targeted sales strategy we are confident that we can boost turnover, increase exports and improve our overall business performance."
