Facilities management firm moves into Ulster

A facilities management company has opened new offices in Northern Ireland.

MITIE, which is listed on the FTSE 250, is one of the biggest outsourcing and asset management providers in the UK.

Its services to clients include strategic consultancy, energy management, cleaning, pest control, catering and mechanical and electrical engineering.

A spokesman said 10 jobs would initially be created with more possibly following in future.

The new facility is located in Silverwood Business Park, Lurgan, a location which the company said would position it well for delivery across Northern Ireland. It will also provide security, cleaning, landscaping and pest control to other businesses in the park.

Philip Murdock, general manager of security for Northern Ireland, said: “This unique development is really exciting for MITIE as it gives us a real opportunity to showcase our service excellence and to train our people to a world-class level in a real-time operational environment.”

Lawrence Harper, general manager for MITIE’s cleaning and environmental operations for Northern Ireland, said: “Although we employ over 55,000 people and have 120 offices around the UK we still offer a local service and employ local people at each of our locations. We’re taking this further by offering opportunities to our local suppliers in the region to provide their products to our business teams in the UK.”
