By Lesley Houston

A family-run packaging firm from Londonderry is celebrating a £3m contract with cycling accessories business Chain Reaction Cycles.

Diamond Corrugated won the lucrative deal to supply a full range of packaging for Chain Reaction Cycles' products over stiff international competition.

The contract marks the latest stage of the business relationship between Diamond Corrugated and the world's largest online bike store, which is also the Royal Mail's biggest customer in Northern Ireland.

Diamond will supply a full packaging service over the next three years and will provide an inventory management service to enable the company to ship products to customers worldwide.

Diamond Corrugated designs and manufactures a wide variety of corrugated packaging for customers in consumer products, food and drink, electronics, light engineering and healthcare throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic.

Paul Diamond, managing director of Diamond Corrugated, said: "We value greatly this new endorsement by Chain Reaction Cycles of our products and our sharp focus on providing excellent quality and customer service."

He said the contract will enable them to "further develop the business relationship formed when Chain Reaction, now among the most successful and globally focused companies in Northern Ireland, began operations in 2000".

Diamond Corrugated's waste management processes includes the recycling of waste and unused cardboard packaging, which reflect its environmental conservation policies.

Diamond Corrugated has invested extensively in the latest production technology which have enabled them to double their sales over the past two years.
